Tomato Pulav


  • Rice-1 cup
  • Tomatoes Ripe -4 to 5(medium size)
  • Big onion-1
  • Green chillies-2
  • Coriander leaves-little
  • Chili powder-1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 3 tsp
  • Ginger-a small piece
  • Garlic-3 pods
  • Fennel seeds-1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon-2 pieces
  • Clove-2
  • bay leaves-2 no
  • Mint leaves-little
  • Curry leaf-little

  • In a kadai heat oil and add the cinnamon, clove, bay leaf, cashews , ginger garlic paste and saute well for few minutes.
  • Then add the Onions and fry well till it turns color and then add the finely chopped tomatoes and saute for few minutes
  • Then add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and fry till the oil leaves side.
  • soak the rice for 20 min.
  • Drain all the water and keep aside.
  • In a cooker add little oil (or) butter add some cumin seeds, cloves and add the soaked rice, saute it for 2 min and add water & close the lid wait for a whistle.
  • Mix the rice and gravy.
